A heat pump works similarly to a solar heating system, by convertingthe outside temperature into heat for the spa. It achieves this bymoving air via a large fan through a heater. The warm air passes overan evaporator containing liquid which boils at a very low temperature.When this liquid turns to vapour, it becomes compressed which increasesthe temperature by 5 or 6 times. For every unit of electricity used torun the compressor, you gain up to 6 free units to heat the spa. Aheat pump looks similar to a large air conditioning unit, and has to beinstalled outdoors.
The most popular method of heating your spa is to invest in a heat pump. Theadvantages of these are that they do not take up much space, arerelatively cheap to run, and are extremely efficient.
